Samsung Galaxy S26 Gets AirDrop-Like Quick Share: Seamless File Sharing Between Android & iPhone Explained

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S26 update introduces AirDrop-like support via Quick Share, between Android and Apple devices.

The recent Galaxy S26 release of Samsung offers Galaxy S26 with AirDrop like functionality through Quick Share to allow file sharing between Android and Apple devices.

Samsung has recently released its new software update on its new flagship Galaxy S26 series phones. In this new update, Samsung has added support of the AirDrop of Apple in Quick Share. This update is already being rolled out in some of its regions, such as South Korea. It is however assumed to be extended to other markets such as the US and India within the next few weeks.

Such update in Quick Share represents a change in the cross-platform file sharing between Android and iOS devices. Hitherto, the process of files sharing between iOS and Android has been extremely tricky, as one had to use third-party messaging services or the available email to transfer files, pictures, audio and so on. In the latest update, the sharing of files between iPhones is now easily done using the faster speed of the AirDrop standard developed by Apple.

The Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra devices have an available new update. It has a firmware version that is related to the February 2026 security patch and weighs more than 700MB.

Samsung-Apple file sharing: How Galaxy S26 will be used with AirDrop.

With this update, Quick Share will be compatible with the functionality of the Apple AirDrop. This will enable users of Galaxy S26 series to transmit files directly to the local Apple gadgets like iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Notably, this is a wireless process that does not need any extra cables or third party applications.

To be successful in file transfers, the receiving apple device should have Airdrop visibility configured to everyone. This will make the Galaxy device able to identify it and be able to connect to it in the sharing process.

Before Samsung, it was Google that added this improved compatibility with Apple AirDrop service with the Pixel 10 series, and later it became available with the older Pixel 9 series, through the Quick Share feature. In most instances, Apple prefers to shut its services to the third party platforms, however, teams at Cupertino have yet to appear to have fixed an update to limit AirDrop to iPhones alone.
