OPPO Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro Launched With 200MP Cameras, 7,000mAh Battery and Dimensity Chips

OPPO Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro smartphones featuring 200MP triple cameras, large batteries and premium ColorOS design.
Reno 16 Pro brings a 7,000mAh battery, 200MP cameras and flagship-style features ahead of its expected India launch.

OPPO has officially launched the next phones of its sub-flagship Reno lineup, starting with China. The OPPO Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro come with bigger batteries, the same camera hardware philosophy, and a slight bump in processing power. Here are the full details.

OPPO Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro specifications

The standard Reno 16 has a 6.32-inch flat OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,600 nits peak brightness, while the Pro gets a slightly larger 6.78-inch panel with the same refresh rate. Both support 10-bit colour, which is now fairly standard at this price point.

For performance, the base model runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super chipset and the Pro gets the Dimensity 9500s. The Reno 16 has a 6,700mAh cell with 80W wired charging, and the Pro pushes that to 7,000mAh, adding 50W wireless charging as well. That’s a bump from the 6,500mAh cell from last year and whether that translates to real-world gains depends on how ColorOS manages the hardware. However, compared to the competition, 7,000mAh is pretty standard nowadays, so OPPO doesn’t land much of a competitive advantage there.

Both phones share the same triple camera setup, comprising a 200MP Samsung HP5 primary, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom. It’s the same sensor strategy as the Reno 15 Pro. A 50MP autofocus selfie camera rounds things out on both models.

Both phones are rated IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K, have NFC, stereo speakers, and ship with ColorOS 16 on Android 15. The Pro gets Wi-Fi 7 while the standard model has Wi-Fi 6.

Highlights

  • OPPO Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro have launched in China with 200MP triple rear cameras and MediaTek Dimensity chipsets.
  • The Reno 16 Pro features a 7,000mAh battery, while the standard model packs a 6,700mAh battery.
  • Both phones are expected to launch in global markets, including India, sometime in June or July.

India launch

A global launch is expected in June or July, and India looks likely to be part of that rollout. A device with model number CPH2865 tied to the Reno 16 series has already passed BIS certification.

The Reno 16 series’ battery advantage is real, but at this price range, buyers tend to weigh camera consistency and software support just as heavily. If OPPO can hold up on those fronts, it has a decent shot with buyers. If you’re on an older Reno or a phone that needs a charge by evening, it’s worth keeping an eye on the India launch date.
